Andhra Dibbarotti / Coconut Utappam Recipe




Urad Dal: 1 CupRaw Rice: 2 Cups(Alternatively, Rice Rawa which is readily available can be used)Chana Dal 2 tablespoons (soaked)Freshly grated coconut 1/4 CupSoak the Urad Dal and Rice for 4 hours. Wash and Grind Urad Dal into smooth batter. Now wash the rice and coarsely grind it ( it shouldn't be smooth like we do for our dosa)Mix them well and leave it for 8 hours to ferment.Now add the grated coconut, salt and soaked chanadal to the batter.Grease the tawa with oil. When hot add the batter and spread it a bit thicker than our usual Utappam. Reduce the flame and cover the tawa. Leave it for 10 min and flip it. Add oil and cook it on a low flame until the utappam is cooked and crunchy.This can be served with any vegetable chutney, pickle or freshly made peanut chutney.
